Ornament Exchange Fun!

I have had fun with an ornament exchange I participated in organized by Tonya at Hillbilly Handiwork's.  These are the ornaments I made.

I made a few more than pictured here and decided to exchange 5 of them.

Tonya sent me a list of names and here are the ornaments I received so far.

This is from Tonya at Hillbilly Handiwork's She wrote that they made these as a family, makes them even more special.  Tonya did the tutorial on her blog where I learned to make the table runner and candle mat pictured here.

Colleen made this sled with the minnie "charm pack".  When she started teaching, every year she would make these sleds with her Dad for every child in her class.  They would have each child's name on them.
Her blog is called Luck Duck Dreams.

Heather made this ornament.  A beautiful tatted snowflake. Her blog is called Heather's Custom Sewing
She is Tonya's sister, they are a very creative family.

This ornament was made by Beth who has an Etsy shop called
I took several pictures, which do not do it justice.  She also sent along "The legend of the Christmas Spider" (a folk legend from Germany and the Ukraine)  Now I will join the custom of including a spider among the decoration on our tree.  (I won't point it out to my daughter in law, she is very afraid of spiders)
I had a great time making my birds and it is great fun receiving ornaments in the mail and meeting new creative people.

It is Christmas Eve and I still have a few things to do.  We have our Christmas Eve service tonight, I am looking forward to a time to focus on why we should be so thankful for the birth of our Savior

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

  1. What lovely ornaments - love the birds with the names and wishes on them and the Christmas spider is so unusual. I must look that legend up, but my all time favorite would be the tatted snowflake - that looks like a lot of work - me, being a crocheter, I can really appreciate that.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  2. Such sweet ornaments! Your birds are adorable ~ and a Christmas tree is the perfect place for them. I have a spider/web in my tree ~ love the legend that goes with it.
The snowflake, sled and paper ball are really nice as well.

    Have a joy-filled Christmas!

    Happy Birthday Jesus!

  4. Hi Sherry,
I love the swap ornaments. I did an ornament exchange last year, but with the new grandson here, I knew that spare time to make them has become a thing of the past!

I stopped by to tell you that you won part 2 of the cloche giveaway. It's the little goody box from me.

Send me your mailing address and it will be on it's way to you after Christmas.

    Thanks!
    Rhonda
