Sit and Sew Finish

Last Friday was the final Sit and Sew for this year sponsored by Melanie, the owner of my favorite quilt shop.  We spend the day from 9 AM until 9 PM sewing, visiting and eating together.  Melanie rents the community building for the Sit and Sew and we walk down to her shop to see what's new and bring back a few treasures.   Melanie's shop is called Fabric Chicks, click here to see her website and here to follow Fabric Chicks on Facebook.  She has always been helpful and encouraging to me as I learn to quilt and never fails to find the perfect fabrics in her shop for my projects.

The project below was something I had started a few weeks ago.  It is my first block for my "Baby Love" quilt from Camille Roskelley's Simply Retro book.

The fabric was cut and ready to stitch together so I decided to take this project to the sit and sew and see if I could get it finished.

The charm squares I used are called Hall of Fame by Emily Herrick. It was nice to have ladies around that were willing to  help with the layout, it is more fun that way too!

I am happy with the completed quilt top and it felt great to finish something.  I guess it will really be finished when it is quilted but to me this is an accomplishment.  I was able to spend a couple of hours at the sit and sew working on my spools quilt top., I hope to share that soon.  I am linking up with Finish it Up Friday at Crazy Mom Quilts.  Visit her blog and see her finish and the list of other finishes.
