Tuesdaisy Blocks and Garden Beauty

I completed the second embroidery block and the first two patchwork blocks for Jenny's Daisy Days Block of the Month.   The first two blocks have been fun to stitch and it is not to late to join in.  Visit Jenny of Elephantz here to find out more about Daisy Days and Jenny's many other wonderful designs.

I took them outside to snap a picture or two and stopped to look around.  Do you ever get busy and forget to stop and really look around you?  There were many beautiful flowers blooming within a few feet of me in our back yard.  I decided to take a few pictures and share them with you.

I will have to take the time to see what's blooming in the front yard tomorrow.

Where Bloggers Create 2013 - My Creative Space

It is that time again!
Thank you to Karen at My Desert Cottage for hosting Where Bloggers Create 2013

I am so thankful for the space I have to create.  For many years the dining room table was the space I would use for everything from sewing to ornament making.  Now I have a room upstairs set aside for creating.  At this time sewing is what I do most but my supplies for all of the different creative projects I like to work on are stored in this room.  It is at the top of the stairs on the left.

Only one little window but usually lots of light coming in.

I have a new and very important addition in the window of my room, it is an air conditioner.  I don't have to use it a lot here in the Pacific Northwest but when the temperature rises I no longer move my projects down stairs to the dining room table.

I have tried to simplify things in this room but end up putting things back out where I can see them.  I guess you could call it ordered chaos.

I use this chair to sit and think a little about what I want to work on, that is if it is not covered with projects.

The green drop down table was made by my grandfather for my grandparents first home.

My sewing machine is usually surrounded by my latest sewing project.

I do try to use my cover when it is going to sit idle for a day or two.

I have several Longaberger baskets and I like to use them to store odds and ends, this one is filled with lace and ribbon scraps.  The pincushion is one I received in a swap.  I love it!

Each of the items in the picture above remind me of someone or a special time, that is why I prefer a little clutter.

I also have several sewing baskets around the room.

This is intended to be a planter but it works great to hold my rickrack and bias tape, much easier to see what I have.  It was a gift from one of my sisters.

A pincushion purchased on a trip to Hawaii and a collection of bird thimbles given to me by a sweet friend, sitting on my grandmother's spice drawer.

I have often thought I would like a mannequin but this is the closest I have come to having one so far.

Pincushions and buttons are something you will find in several places around the room.

It is a blessing to me to have a place to do the sewing and crafts I enjoy and a place to store things where I can easily find them.  I am very thankful for it and for a husband who encourages me to do the creative things I love to do.   Be sure to visit My Desert Cottage and see the many wonderful creative spaces.

Daisy Days Block One

Do you enjoy embroidery?  If you do you will  love working on Jenny of Elefantz'  Daisy Days block of the month.  I just completed the first block and have the pattern for the second.  Jenny has a blog here where those who are stitching along can share their progress.  It is not too late to join in the fun.

I am using Lori Holt's "Bake Sale" fabrics for the pieced blocks.

I am trying to keep up with this BOM so I will get busy on block two right away.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Simple Saturday

I did a little weeding in the front flower bed and then a little berry picking.

Fresh raspberries on my cereal

I picked some rhubarb, should I bake a pie or freeze the rhubarb for later?

I stitched up a couple of quilt blocks for the stitch along.  Number 26 and 27, three more to go before the Sit n Sew on Friday.

Then my hubby to me to a movie.  Star Trek Into Darkness, Pat is a Star Trek fan and I always enjoy watching the movies with him.  I can't say that I am a fan of the original Star Trek TV series he enjoys watching from time to time.  We had a big tub of popcorn between us and we ate the whole thing.

Back home for a simple dinner of leftovers from the 4th of July fun.  Now it is time to pick up my embroidery and relax for the rest of the evening.  I hope you enjoyed some simple things today, if not there might still be time to do so.
