We have had this bench in our entry for several years. It had belonged to my sister and fit nice with the other red accents in the room. The other reds have pretty much disappeared so this bench was now out of place. It was time for a makeover. I decided one day to take the bench out back and see what I could do with it.
After a little sanding, one coat of primer and two coats of paint I really like its new look. After reading a few blog posts from some very creative ladies I decided to try a little paste wax on the bench for a finishing touch. It worked great.
Here it is ready for a couple of new pillows, we are going to do a little shopping today, I might have to be on the lookout for just the right thing.
I will be linking with the Creative Home & Garden Hop
I liked it in it's red color but the white looks so classy. Looking forward to see what you will do for pillows.

A bench like this is always useful in a hall and your rejuvenated bench looks lovely, so it's beautiful and useful. The new colour will also go with lots of others so you shouldn't have to paint it again for a while.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your new cushions.
It turned out beautifully, Sherry! I love the new look!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to The Creative Home & Garden hop! : )
Hi Sherry! Came back to let you know I featured your bench on The Creative Home & Garden hop! : )
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sherry, I love what you have done with this bench in your hall, the white paint has made the bench look very fresh. I am doing a similar thing, I have an old telephone table, which really does need revamping. I have sanded it down and I am going to paint it. I also have read about using wax, but was not 100% sure, but as you mentioned that it created a lovely finish, I am going to buy some.
ReplyDeleteSherry I have enjoyed my visit and I have become a new follower.
I would like to invite you to visit me at Ivy, Phyllis and Me! when you have a moment to spare, as it would be lovely to see you there.
Best Wishes to you,
Daphne
