Tea For Two Blog Hop

It is day two of the Tea for Two blog hop and this is my day to share my project with you.  Thank you to Mdm Samm at Sew We Stitch, Cori at Chitter Chatter Designs and Mary, our cheerleader for all of the work it took to make this happen.
This was a fun project to embroider.  I used white crayon to color the spaces in and then colored over the white with the bright colors.  I was not sure how I was going to finish this project as I was doing the embroidery but once it was complete I decided to make a pillow.  I love decorative pillows!

The pictures below give you a little close view of some of the embroidery.

My pillow sits on a wicker love seat in our dining room. You can  see a little bit of it behind the tea cups in the picture below.

This was such a fun project and I even enjoyed putting the back together.

I put the pillow out in the daylight on our bench on the back porch.  I think it might spend a little time there also this spring and summer.

Thank you for visiting a I hope you continue to enjoy Tea For Two.
Be sure to visit all of the participants in this hop, I know you will be amazed by their creativity.

Grow Your Blog Day and Giveaway

Today is Grow Your Blog!!! day hosted by Vicki at 2 Bags Full.  Visit Vicki's blog here and see the list of bloggers participating.  Many are new to blogging and would appreciate a visit and you are sure to "meet" some interesting and talented people.
I am late at getting my post up.  I spent the day at a Sit and Sew sponsored by Melanie of Fabric Chicks in Coupeville, WA yesterday and had a wonderful time but forgot to complete my post.  I have been blogging since March of 2010.  It has been a great adventure and I have met many wonderful people all over the world through blogging.

Take a look around and you will learn more about me.  Briefly, I am the mother of six and grandmother to 16.  My husband is a pastor and I work full time for our local library system.  I have always been a lover of books and my job keeps me working with them five days a week.  I love to sew, garden, decorate, crochet, embroider, craft, spending time with family and friends, I could keep going.  In doing all of the things I love I want to put the Lord's will for my life first.

The blogging world has been a blessing to me and I in turn hope to bless someone else.

This is the pincushion I am giving away, just leave a comment if you want to have a chance to win.

Hand embroidered on one side.

Pieced together on the other side.

Giveaway ends February 14th.  I will announce the winner on the 15th.

It's For the Birds Blog Hop

I signed up right away when I heard about the It's For the Birds Blog Hop.  I have had a project in mind for some time and this was the motivation I needed to get it done.  I had a bird pattern designed by Bari J and I knew how I wanted to use it.   I set the materials aside but just didn't seem to get going on it.  Thank you Mdme Samm and Mary for this blog hop and for the motivation I needed.

I made this quilt top using a "Botany" jelly roll and machine appliqued the bird's using Bari's design.  I enlarged the pattern a couple of times to make it look as though the birds are flying off into the sunset or maybe the sunrise.

I plan to try quilting this quilt myself using some of my decorative stitches on my machine and some of the bright colored Aurifil thread I used to applique the birds.  Machine quilting is new for me so it will probably be a slow process and I did not expect to complete that part of the project before the hop.

The bright colors in this quilt top are not what I usually use but I will be using more fun colors in the future.

In a post I wrote a few days ago I mentioned a book I bought recently called Redwork With A Twist by Pat Sloan and right away I spotted a bird project I just had to make for this hop.  I used scraps of French General fabrics to make this fun pincushion, it is about 7 inch square.

I will choose a winner, using Random.org,  from all of the comments when the hop is over and this little bird pincushion can fly to a new home.

I hope you are enjoying the hop.  Visit all of the blogs on the list below to see what the other birds are out there.  Have fun!

Stitch Me Up Embroidery Blog Hop - It's My Day!

Today is the last day of the Stitch me up embroidery blog hop. Thank you to Madame Samm and Jane for organizing this fun blog hop.  We were given several embroidery designs from three different designers and were to choose from them to make our projects.   Jane offered a thread kit with several colors of Presencia Finca Perle Cotton that we could use on our projects if we chose to.  Most of the stitching I did was done with this thread and it was great to work with.

My first project was designed by Debbie at Busy As Can Be.  I started by doing my embroidery in blue using backstitch, outline stitch, french knots.  Instead of redwork I made a bluework project.

I then added strips of fabric from my stash.

Added some lace.

Added some trim.

I then added a little more fabric to the edges to make a 16" inch pillow that is perfect for my favorite chair.

The back is made from strips of fabric stitched together.

My next project is made from one of Madame Samm's designs.

This is the embroidery stitched and ready to make the sweet little doll below.

This little doll will be a gift for one of my granddaughters, I have three more that I plan to stitch up but each will have a different hair and eye color.

The last project I had time complete was made from one of  the designs Cyndi of  Bee Tree Designs provided for us.   I am a lover of pincushions so that is what I made with this fun design.  I used my new thread to make the cording for the edge of my pincushion.

The back is fabric scraps sewn together.

I had hoped to have time to use more of the embroidery designs provided by these talented ladies but I will have to save that for another day.  Be sure to visit the others on the list below on this last day of the
Stitch Me Up Embroidery Blog Hop.

Day Six Bowls With Borders Blog Hop

I had a lot of fun working on my Bowls with Borders project for this Blog Hop.   Today is my day to share my project with you!
Thank you to Regina who shared her pattern with us.  Thank you to Mdm Samm at Sew We Quilt and Carol at Just Let Me Quilt for organizing this hop.

After receiving the pattern in my email I gathered my fabrics.

I then began paper piecing which is pretty new for me.

Three bowls stacked, should I make a small stack?

A few more.

Up to fourteen bowls here and I decided to add a few more.
I stopped when I had eighteen bowls.

With an ice cream sundae and a cherry on top.

I knew that I was going to use some hand embroidery in this project but was not sure what I was going to do until I was inspired by two of my co-workers to add ice cream with a cherry on top.

I changed the bottom strip because the blue I had used seemed to blend in too much.
This adventure in paper piecing and creating my own project has been great fun!

Be sure to visit the other links below and see the other projects posted today.
