Sandra said -
Both of your projects are so cute. Take your time with machine quilting and it will be beautiful.

Thank you Sandra, I will try to be patient and enjoy the process.

I received many kind comments and had great fun with this blog hop.

I was up early and have already completed a project this morning, I will be giving the pillow I created as a gift so I will have to share it later.
Have a great Saturday!

Cottage Charm Giveaway

I have been blogging for a little over a year now and have had a wonderful time with it.  I had planned to do an anniversary giveaway and here it is.  I am joining with the 5th Annual Cottage Charm Giveaway at Twice Remembered Cottage.  I had fun preparing these items for this giveaway.  I have learned so many new things and "met" so many wonderful people in the world of blogging.

This says "Cottage Charm" to me.

This bird on the spool was inspired by a project I saw in a spring Crafts n Things magazine

I embroidered the pillow and made pockets in the front with the toile, it is backed with toile.

The pincushion is made with an old metal mold and edged with seam binding.

My giveaway is open to anyone.
Just leave a comment and you will be entered.
The giveaway will end on May 29 and I will post the winner that morning.
Be sure to let me know how to get in touch with you if you do not have a blog.

Be sure to visit Twice Remembered Cottage and join in on the other "Cottage Charm Giveaways."

I Won a Cabbages and Roses Fabric Giveaway

Cabbages and Roses, I love the fabric!  In November I entered a giveaway at a lovely blog called French Larkspur.  Visit Tracey's blog, I guarantee you will enjoy it.  The giveaway was three pieces of Cabbages and Roses fabric from the new Hobury line.  I entered the giveaway by commenting on the post and telling what I thought I would do with the fabric if I won it.  Well guess what, I did win it.  Cabbages and Roses asked that I let them know what I do with the fabric, which arrived in the mail a few days ago.

I will have to wait until after Christmas to begin a project with this beautiful fabric.  Ideas are going through my mind but no definite plan yet.  I will be excited to share what I do and am looking forward to getting started.

I Won a Stocking with a Story

A few weeks ago I entered a giveaway at Stitching~ N~ Shipping.  Tammy had made a stocking from one of her favorite antique quilts.  It was not what she had planned for that quilt as it lay on her couch.  Believing that her littlest dog Lil Bitsy aka Lulu-Belle was playing with her tug, she later found out that the little one was chewing on her quilt. As Tammy puts it "After shock and awe, bleach and dry, cry and cut" she had made something for her November giveaway.

Don't you just enjoy getting packages

It is extra special when there are lovely things like this inside the package.

The stocking is now hanging on our coat rack shelf

I folded the top down to show you the pretty fabric on the inside.
Thank You Tammy for your wonderful giveaway.  I will enjoy using this lovely stocking.

We are home and we picked a Giveaway Winner!

We returned from our trip at around midnight last night and I had intended to post some pictures from the trip and share a little about the fun we had.  That will have to wait.  My husband and I both went to work early this morning and were home at about 4:30 to find shortly afterwards that our freezer was full of thawed but still very cold food.  I have spent the evening cooking chicken, sausage, pork roast and have more to cook or give away tomorrow.  No creative blogging tonight.

I did want to let all that posted a comment on my 100 followers giveaway post that a winner has been chosen.  I decided to write each name down and mix them up in a bowl and have my husband choose a winner.  So here we are with everyone's name in the bowl.

He pulled out one name

Kathi you are the winner!  Kathi's blog is Beautiful Mini Blessings, she enjoys making dollhouses with miniature everything to go with them.  I will email you right away to find out what color you would like your tote bag to be.
Thanks to all of you who left a comment, I wish I could send you all a tote bag.

Over 100 Followers Giveaway!

I have been posting on my Blessings From Our Nest Blog since March of 2010.  My profile says that I have been blogging since some time in 2008 because I set this blog up as a part of a training at work.  That is where my interest in reading blogs began.  A couple of years later I decided to blog to help motivate me to get projects done and try new things.  Well, here I am seven months later and I am thoroughly enjoying blogging.  The trick is to find a balance because I could spend way too much time in the world of blogging and neglect my purpose for blogging.

I have a reason for all this rambling,  I want to have a giveaway for all my blogging friends and those who read my blog.
I have over 100 followers now and decided I should have a
"Over 100 Followers Giveaway!"

Here is my plan.
We will be visiting with our daughter and her family in Wisconsin and I will not be blogging again until October 5th.
This is what I decide to giveaway.

One of my handmade tote bags.

I am showing a couple of examples of the over 25 bags I have made like these.  The winner of the random drawing will receive a bag made special for them by me.  You will be able to tell me what color or two color combination you would like and I will pick some fabric and make it for your right away and send it out.

The only requirement is that you must leave a comment on this post by midnight October 4th.
I will pick a winner on October 5th and notify the winner.
If you don't have a blog and I don't know you personally you must leave an email address so that I can contact you.
I am so looking forward to visiting Wisconsin.
Have a great week!

The Polka Dot Closet and Romantic Homes

One of my very favorite magazines that I have subscribed to for quite a while is Romantic Homes.  I was reading some  of the blogs I follow and found out that Carol Turner at The Polka Dot Closet was going to be featured in the "Make It" section of the September 2010 issue.  I "met" Carol and started following her blog back in March when I won her "Cottage Charm" giveaway.
Remember my lovely tray?
Here it is.

  Handmade by Carol

When  I got home from work today I checked the mail and found my Romantic Homes Magazine waiting for me.

I love to sit with a cup of tea and read this cover to cover.

This is one of the pages where Carol is featured.

Do you remember using paper dolls?  We spent hours playing with our paper dolls and making new clothes for them to wear.  Carol has a creative way of using old paper dolls and other vintage items.

Take a look at Carol's blog and her shop, don't forget to enter her giveaway.  I know you will enjoy your visit.

Two Blessings In My Snail Mail

Thank you so much to Jen at Jen's Fun Little Things,  I won a giveaway she had last week.  I have been visiting her blog for a while now and she had this great giveaway and I made a comment and I won, I won!  She put the package in the mail right away and so now I want share what she sent with you.

This is what it looked like when I took it out of the box

These things are a so nice, Jen made the apples, she says that the largest one is a pumpkin.  Three pieces of fall fabric.  I will have to share later what I use them for.  The wooden bowl works great at my house and the chicken is just the cutest.

I received another precious piece of mail from Lynda at Prairie Flower Farm.  She had a party to celebrate one year and I won 6th place and this is what she sent me.

This is their American Flag Ornament
Go visit Lynda and see what else they have in their store, her blog is always a blessing.

I will be very busy for the next couple of weeks so it will be hard to do much blogging or blog reading.  I will try to check in as often as I can.  I am still trying to visit all of my new Bloggerette Sorority Sisters and also working my way through the long list of creative spaces at Where Bloggers Create II.  Go visit both of these, you will enjoy.
