Weekend Sewing and Giveaway Winner.

A little sewing on  this long weekend.  I started by making two blocks for Aurifil Thread Designer Block of the Month.  I am planning to make two each month unless I decide that the quilt top will be too large.  These blocks are being made with  Fig Tree & Co. fabrics.  There may be an odd fabric thrown in here and there.

These are the February blocks designed by Amy Gibson.

I made a couple more towels for Valentine's Day gifts.

The winner of my Grow Your Blog Giveaway is Beth at E. Lizard Breath Speaks.  I will send you an email so that you can send me your address and the pincushion will be on its way to you.

Happy Valentines Day

This is one of the first gifts I received from my Valentine about 43 years ago. It sits on the top of a wardrobe in our room and I see it every morning, it makes me smile.  That really makes me sound old, but I would have to say I seem to be  getting there quick. I do want to say that my Valentine is still a pretty special guy

We had a bit of snow this past weekend, it made me want to stay inside and create something.  I was inspired to make something for Valentine's Day.

I found a design that I really wanted to try at Amy Smarts blog, Diary of a Quilter.  I gathered some leftover charm squares cut out hearts and fused them to some fabric I had in my stash.

After fusing them I stitched around each heart.

I ended up making two fun pillows.

Shhhh!  They are gifts for some very special people.

I also had a little fun making a couple of towels to send to more very special people.

They have been sent out in the mail and I hope they arrive today.

It always feels great to spend a little time creating fun projects.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Up The Garden Path Stitch Along

I have done a little embroidery these past couple of weeks while spending much more time than usual on the couch in front of the TV.  I think I am on the mend but this sinus infection took it's toll, I have been going to work but return home and basically do nothing.  Block one and two from Fee's Up the Garden Path Stitch Along are complete.  They stitch up pretty quick so it is not too late to get started and catch up.

Daisy Days Progress

I started out by keeping up with my Daisy Days blocks each month but I guess I hit a road block in November and couldn't seem to get around it.  Now here it is February and I recently completed the block I started in November.  I have a couple of more stitching pieces and a few more pieced blocks before I can put this all together.

This project is definitely on my list of things I want to finish in 2014.  Actually I would like to complete it early in 2014.  I will keep sharing my progress.  This is another example of my need for balance and learning to say no to myself when I see new projects to start.

Stitching Along

Jut a few things happening in my sewing room over the past couple of weeks.  My husband and I have both been sick off and on for a couple of weeks.  It appears that we are both on the mend.  I did sneak away to my sewing room but did not spend much time each visit, I would get tired and end up reading, watching television or more often sleeping.

Below are some of the things I did work on when I got the chance.

Building Foundations Sampler  by Row House Creations blocks ten and eleven.  I have the instructions for the next block but have not begun yet.

The block below is the Sugar Block Club 2014 January Block.

This fabric I have collected, most of it Fig Tree fabrics, is for the 2014 Aurifil Thread Designer of the Month Challenge.  I love Fig Tree fabrics and really love Joanna Figueroa's new line Honeysweet.  Melanie has the line at her fabric shop Fabric Chicks so I try to pick some up each time I visit.

I made two copies of the January Block.  I am going to try to make two of most if not all of the blocks.

I have actually limited myself to a certain number of Block of the Month projects.  There are so many great opportunities to stitch along but I am determined to limit myself and be able to share some finished projects here each month, not just new beginnings.
