Simple Changes

It has been quite some time since my last before and after blog post.  We have been working to make some changes in our living room.  It all started when I found some great fabric on clearance, $5.00 per yard, while browsing at a fabric store.  I bought all they had and made plans to make curtains for our living room.  It took me some time to get them done but they are now hanging.  The curtain change made a slight paint color change necessary.  Then you know how that goes, one thing follows the other.

This is the fabric that started it all.

Below are pictures of our living room before I changed the curtains.

I can see the toys peaking out from the end of the couch.

Once the curtains were complete, we made a slight change in the paint color, it feels a little "softer".
Lyndie and I painted the mirrors and many things were not hung back up on the walls.  It will take a while to figure out what should go back up.

New area rug but still have the same very necessary toy box for the grandkids.

This is my favorite reading or sewing space.  The bright light makes it work great for my aging eyes.

A temporary "slip cover" helps bring things together.  I plan to sew a fitted cover someday soon, I must say that it is not at the top of my "to do" list though.
I like the simple changes that started when I found a beautiful length of fabric on the clearance rack.

  1. I have similar maroon curtains in our tv room, even a green loveseat, so I can tell we like the same colors. I do love your new curtains and the new look of the living room. I have a thing with blank spaces, though, so would be slapping things up on the walls like crazy. You have so many beautiful handmade things so you should definitely incorporate them. :) Have a great week. Tammy

  2. The fabric was such a pretty choice. I love the pattern & colors. Your living room looks very cozy & inviting.

  3. looking great. I love that special corner too. I have a couple of those myself and yep light starts to become a concern at a certain age! lol

  4. That's gorgeous fabric that you found and your living room looks really lovely. I like softer color scheme even though red is my favorite color.

  5. Looks great. Beautiful. Inviting. You do good work.

  6. Isn't it funny how such a "bargan" can cost us so much more! Your changes look wonderful. I like the white cover on the couch as it is. Very warm and inviting. Great job.

  7. How fun and refreshing to change up your space. Love the fabric that inspired it all. Home Sweet Home...

  8. That is so pretty! Your home looks so comforting and welcoming and I LOVE the fabric you chose!

I wanted to let you know that I'm hosting a month-long Giveaway Jubilee beginning March 1st. I know you've hosted giveaways before and thought you might be interested. You can participate as a giver, a (hopefully) winner, or both! Just click on the button at the top right of my sidebar that says "Giveaway Jubilee" for more info.

Hope you have a lovely weekend,

  9. Your drape fabric is pretty.
I love the feel of your space. I too have toys tucked in hide away corners and furniture better suited for little people!
