Someone Special is 60 Today!

Patrick turned sixty today!  Where did the time go?  This was one birthday that made us pause and reflect a little. Turning 30,40 and 50 didn't seem to phase either of us much but this one was a little different.  I will be reaching this age in a few months, that gives me a little more time to get used to the number.

We celebrated after church on Sunday with a potluck, so much great food and fellowship.  We put 60 candles on one of the cakes and wheeled it in to the front of the church after the service.

We made him blow out all sixty candles in front of the congregation.  He managed to blow out most of them on the first try.  Just a few stayed lit so that he had to take another breath and try again.

After the party Pat and I packed up a few things to take on our trip over the mountains to a little town called Leavenworth.  We had a relaxing time, took a few walks, had locally made sausage and visited a few shops. One of those shops being a great quilt shop where I did find a few embroidery patterns I just had to have. One of the highlights of our trip was visiting a couple that we have known since high school.  Actually, Teri was my friend in junior high.  It was so nice to visit with Steve and Teri, we have missed these very special people and hope to see more of them in the future.

On our way home we stopped to see Pat's sweet mother, a very special person to both of us.

I am blessed with so many wonderful people in my life.

  1. Age is such a strange concept. There are 90 year olds who have the vitality of a 30 year old. And 50 year olds who look or act like they are way older than their years. I find that though my age keeps creeping up, I don't feel "older" -- except for the aching left hip. :) It's all relative. And all we can do is be the best we can be at any age. Happy birthday to your hubby! Best wishes, Tammy
