Sit and Sew Snapshots

I spent a day sewing with friends, we call it a Sit and Sew.  With all of the visiting, sharing, eating and laughing that went on that day I managed to complete a few "Snapshot Blocks".  It was a fun day and it is always nice to have  projects to share after the day is over.

Fat Quarters and yardage of Daysail fabric by Bonnie and Camille waiting to be cut.

Three blocks complete and four more cut and ready to stitch together.  I am a bit behind on this project but have enjoyed the process so far.

I am thankful for friends to inspire and encourage me and a sweet husband that supports my need to create.  What are you working on?

Sprocket Pillows Finished

I made these sprocket pillows using a great tutorial found here at Cluck Cluck Sew.  They were made for my sister Becky.  The fabrics I used are scraps of  the Fig Tree fabrics used to make the quilt I gave her.  They are something that I have been planning to complete for quite some time.  I forgot to take pictures of  them so I snapped a couple of pics with my phone after I had given them to her.

They were fun to make and are a cheerful addition to the room, I will have to think about making a couple for our house.  We have a few places that could use a fresh look.

Another finish to cross off my list.  Hm mm, what should I work on next.  The list is long and I am looking forward to making it shorter.  I must admit that I have started new projects this year, it is so hard to resist, but my focus has been on finishing those I have started.   The 2015 Finish Along with Adrianne at On the Windy Side has helped to keep me focused on finishes.  Linking to the Q3 Finish Along at this post here.

A Sweet Finish

My August goal for ALYOF was to finish my Sew Sweet Simplicity quilt shown in this post.  All that was left to do was to add the binding.  I had already given this quilt to my sister as a Birthday gift so I wanted to finish it up right away.

Here the quilt is bound and labeled and ready for my sister.

I love the custom quilting Leslie did on this quilt.  I have always been happy with Leslie's work.
It is always nice to finish a project and I hope to share a few more finishes very soon.  I will be linking to the August Finishers party at Fiber of All Sorts and  Sew Bittersweet Designs.

I Finished Piecing My Quirky Scrap Quilt

This year I have tried to focus on completing projects and buying fabric that will help me to complete projects, not start new ones.  This project was a part of that in my mind because it involved using scraps.  I have been looking for ways to use scraps, this was a perfect project for that.  I will say that I have only made a very slight dent in my huge scrap pile.

Here it is, the rows are ready to stitch together.  That is how it looked this morning when I walked in to my sewing room.

Now this is what it looks like all stitched together  I think that scrap quilts are so fun.  Now I will add it to the pile of  quilt tops ready for quilting.  It will be so fun to use when it is complete.  Thank you to Leila at Sewn By Leila for this fun quilt along.  I think I will be making another of these fun quilts soon. I am going to link this post up here with the others who participated in That Quirky Scrap Quilt Along.

I had some fun sewing this morning, now to head outside and work a little in the garden.  It is a beautiful day.  While I am outside I will think about what I want to finish next.   Enjoy the moment!

Beach Time

Pat and I were able to spend a few days on the coast, we were away to relax and to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary.  We took Emmy along, she loves to spend time at the beach, she acts like a much younger dog than she is when she is walking or chasing her ball on the beach .  She gets very anxious when we are packing our car to head out from home, I think she is afraid she will be left behind.
The weather was beautiful, if it was warm at the house we just open the windows and the breeze comes through.  If that didn't work we headed for the beach to enjoy the breeze.

We took a long walk at the Oyhut Bay wildlife area.

We took a "selfie" with my new phone.

Emmy is not patient when we pause to enjoy the view, she wants to keep moving.

We enjoyed a meat Lovers Pizza from our favorite place "Red Genie Pizza" in Ocean Shores.

Pat and I usually work a puzzle together but this trip I was busy cutting fabric so he accomplished this on his own.

Meadow Mist Mystery Quilt all cut and ready to start stitching.

Four more blocks for my Snapshots Quilt cut and ready to stitch.
Blocks cut for my Quirky Scrap Quilt cut and ready.  These blocks had to be re cut as I made a mistake with the first blocks I cut.  The quilt top is now almost pieced together.

We felt so relaxed after spending a few days of quiet and relaxation.

Sew Sweet Simplicity Quilt Binding is my August Goal.

I have not been sewing much this summer.  I have missed it but I am having a little trouble getting  back to it.  I would spend an hour here and there in my sewing room several times a week but now I am not motivated to take the short walk up the stairs.  I did not complete my July goal but I hope to complete it in August and have also chosen an August goal.  This is my Sew Sweet Simplicity quilt.  I got it back from Leslie, my quilter, and I love what she did with it.

Now it its time to get the binding sewn on and hand stitch it down.  Also I want to add a label.  I have already given this quilt to my sister as a gift but took it back to get it bound.

I will be going to a sit and sew this week and will focus on a few unfinished projects.

I hope to share this finish very soon! I am linking my goal with ALYOF (A Lovely Year of Finishes) at Sew Bittersweet Designs and Fiber of All Sorts.  This quilt is also a part of my Q3 2015 Finish Along goals, I will be linking this post up here.
Happy Stitching!
