Sugarplum Block Challenge

I was reading the Jolly Jabber, the Fat Quarter Shop blog when I saw the video talking about the Sugarplum Block Challenge.  I have always loved Joanna Figueroa's Fig Tree fabrics, patterns and books.  My first thought was, "I do not have time", but then I thought about it a little longer and decided that I was going to make time to give it a try.  I looked through my fabrics and decided to use some of my Moda "Farmhouse" fabric by Joanna Figueroa  to make this project.

It is hard to take a picture with true colors inside the house but this shows it on our little table.  I used the scraps cut off from the flying geese to make the half square triangles for the borders on each end.

It was fun trying to make sure that the writing went the same direction in each square of print.

Another picture of the end of the runner.

The outdoor pictures were true to color but the wet fence and ground limited the spaces I could lay the table runner.

I did a little quilting on my machine to finish my table runner off.  I even sewed the binding down on my machine.  That is the part that I usually enjoy doing by hand but I thought that I could get a little practice machine stitching on binding with a small project.  It was nice to complete this project.  Spending a little time working on it each evening helped to get my creativity going just a bit.  I could always use work to improve my machine quilting.  There is still time to join the challenge.
Happy Sewing!

Holiday Raffle Pillow

Isn't it fun to attend the Holiday craft events at this time of year.  It seems that I don't get the chance to attend many these lately, there is always something going on that keeps me from attending.  We have had a Holiday Marketplace at our church for the past few years.  It is put on to benefit the Lake Country Preschool.  I have not made things to sell but there are always so many wonderful things to buy.

I have tried to make something to donate each time to use as an item for the raffle.  This year I made a pillow that was not only fun to make but I think it will be fun for the person who takes it home.  It adds a cheerful touch to my living room chair as I type this.

This pillow was made with charm squares and I had enough half square triangles to make two pillows.  I think the other pillow will be a gift for someone, that is if I get it put together.  Small projects like this help with the idea of finishing something.
If you happen to live in our area the Holiday Marketplace will be at the Lake Country Baptist Church in Lake Stevens, Washington from 10-4 on November 11th.  Maybe I will see you there.
Happy Finishing!

Mystery Quilt Update

I am having fun with this project.

Remember the fabrics I chose.

All of the pieces are cut.

Pieces sewn together, squared up and ready to put together, waiting for the next step.

This morning in my email I found a link to the instructions for the next step in this project.  Visit Meadow Mist Designs and think about joining in.  The next instructions are here.  This quilt will start taking shape as soon as I get the chance to take the next steps.  Stay tuned for updates.

Sit and Sew Project

Sometimes so much time goes by and I don't find the time to post about the projects I have been working on.  I have been to a few "Sit and Sew" days with my quilting friends in Coupeville and this is one of the projects I worked on.
Sweet Sixteen
I love the soft colors of this quilt top.

I made this using a jelly roll I won from a giveaway at Vroomans Quilts quite a while back.  I always enjoy visiting Sharon's blog and getting lots of inspiration.

I ordered fabric from the fabric line to make the background squares.

The quilt top is pieced together, it needs a good pressing and I must find someone to quilt it for me.  I took the picture inside so the flash washed it out a bit but I do really like the finished top.

There are several quilts in this book that I hope to have a chance to make some day.
It was good to share a project, it has been a while, I look forward to sharing the completed quilt. I put a border of the light gray on top and bottom and will bind it with the gray also.
