Last Thursday my husband and I celebrated our
Thirty Eighth Wedding Anniversary
We started dating on June 25th, 1970
We were engaged on December 24th 1971
We were married on August 12th 1972
Senior Prom 1971
Wedding Day August 12th 1972
Now thirty eight years later our six children are grown and married.
We have nine beautiful grandchildren, with one on the way.
We celebrated by having a quiet dinner together at home
This is the table setting from our anniversary dinner.
Cake top from our wedding cake
White vase, first vase with flowers my husband ever gave me,
it had roses in it the first time
Hydrangea from our garden
Happy Anniversary mirror, a gift from a friend on our 36th
We've only just begun, a gift on our 25th
"We've only just begun" a song done by the Carpenters was sung at our wedding.
Place mats and Napkins
thrifty finds at goodwill, $1 each
Plates also Goodwill finds
2 for $3, I wish I could find more of these
Simple but cozy using one end of our very long table.
It sure is easy cooking for two
Chicken breasts with a lemon sauce, mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes
We both enjoyed the quiet evening and simple dinner together.
We feel very blessed here in our" Nest"

This is so beautiful. August is a very popular month for getting married. You started dating the year I was born, and you were married 20 years (and 10 days) before me. Thank you for sharing your celebration with us. I have been blessed by your post, and am blessed to know you.

ReplyDeleteYour placemats are Villeroy and Boch. I have the tablecloth that matches. So you got a good buy.
I love the dishes! Very pretty.
Happy anniversary! You're just a few months ahead of us, as we celebrate #38 in December. I adore those placemats and napkins -- they appear to match my daughter's Villeroy and Boch dishes. What a find at Goodwill! Your festive table looks so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!!! Not many couples make it this long. Jeff and I are at 37 years. Looks like you had a wonderful evening. Susan

ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary -- what lovely setting. Loved seeing the pictures. We're celebrating 35 this year in November. Thanks for inviting us you your celebration!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary.
ReplyDeleteI met my hubby in 1970, too. And we got married in 70.
Your pictures remind me of some of our pictures from the "early years".
Happy anniversary! Mine was the 13th but we've only been married for 22 years so we have some catching up to do!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Beautiful!!! You got a screaming deal on those plates. You can get more of those plus the other pieces here http://www.replacements.com/webquote/RSTHEB.htm#1903222
ReplyDeleteMy Grandmother had some dishes she wanted to find and I found them here, along with our china pattern.
Oh, it is so much fun to look at old photos! Time sure does fly, doesn't it? I love the blue and white of your table setting. When is the next grandbaby due?
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Anniversary- Don & I have been married 44 years. Your husband's blues in the wedding picture- can I ask was he in the Navy or Coast Guard. Don's retired out of the Coast Guard and in that year their uniforms were similar.
ReplyDeleteAmazed to know about this information on your anniversary. Last month, it was my parents’ anniversary and I arranged a party at one of exotic Los Angeles venues by inviting all our family and friends. It was a surprise for them and they really liked it.
