My Favorite Room

Why is our Master Bedroom my favorite in our home?
At this moment in time it is clean, organized and
peaceful to be in.
How did this come about?
I had a day off from work and had a brilliant idea.  If I took the time to get our room in shape I could write a blog post about it.
A few months ago when I started blogging one of my thoughts was "blogging would be a motivation to complete projects, I would then have something to write about".

The Master Bathroom is my second favorite because we have completed changes there also.  Look here to see our bathroom update.  Another room in our home that is now organized is my Sewing Room here, completed for the "Where Bloggers Create" event.

I will show a couple of before pictures of the dresser and table tops first.  These two pictures should give you a general feel of the room.  The pictures make me cringe.  I would rather forget how it looked before I de-cluttered and organized.

My bedside table - ugh!

The top of my dresser, just looking at it is stressful.
On to the new clutter free room!

Enter the room through french doors and look to the right

Looking a little further to the right

This is a picture of the bed before I finished making it.  Notice the lovely chocolate brown sheets.  They are what I purchased with the CSN gift certificate I won from Anne's giveaway last month at Fiona and Twig.

I tried the pillows several different ways

This has my hand embroidered pillows in the back

This is what I settled on with my lovely new pillow in the middle, $2 at my great garage sale shopping day.

My grandparents old bedside cupboards

It is free of clutter so there is room for the book or sewing project I am working on.

Here is the wardrobe closed, it sits across from the bed. Our little guy with his arms open wide is one of the first gifts given to husband while we were dating. It spent several years in a box but now sits where we see it every day. It says,
"I Love You This Much"

Wardrobe open, TV and extra blankets

Looking back the other way, here is where the pillows ended up.

My chair and dresser

I still love violets

Tray made by my Daughter-in-law Lyndie, gifts from friends on it

Dishes holding jewelry and of course more violets

His desk and desktop

Violet stitchery I did several years ago, just to the right of the french doors.

It is great to have a room that is calm and uncluttered, at least for the time being.

  1. I am going through this same process right now. Got the closet done - mostly. Just finished the top of the dresser. Now thinking about changing my nightstand for something else. Your room looks so welcoming and peaceful and relaxing. Charming!

  10. Great job! Thanks for sharing this great transformation. Your room is so inviting looking, but I won't ask to be invited... well, maybe just to see it in person some time. I do not have a favorite room in my home now. The master bedroom in my old home was definitely my favorite. It was like a castle bedroom and I always felt like a queen in there. It made me feel so relaxed and removed from everything domestic. Now, my whole home makes me feel relaxed and comfortable.

  12. I came over from Cottage Instincts. Lovely! Pansies are my favorite--closely followed by violets. I love the lavender and purple. I was amazed at your husband's bedside table. My husband allows it on MY side! :-) I love your stitchery and pillows too. Very nice room.

  14. Hi Sherry! Popping in to let you know I'm matching up swap partners now! : ) Also, I agree that an uncluttered master bedroom makes for a much more relaxing and stress-free environment. I can't tell you what a difference it made in my own bedroom once I got rid of a lot of "stuff".
