A Faithful Friend Stitch Along

I have completed my center piece for my A Faithful Friend Quilt.  I had so much fun stitching it and hope to get a few of the smaller blocks ready for stitching this weekend.  Block One, the verse below is available in the Homespun Magazine No95 Vol 12.4 and the remainder of the blocks can be downloaded here for free.  I bought my copy of Homespun Magazine on line at Erica's Craft & Sewing Center.  Visit the designer Leena Green at Stitching Cow or Little Green Cottage.

It is cloudy here and I can't seem to get the right light to show the creamy color of the fabric

The color is better in this photo.  I bought some of the fat quarters to put the quilt together at one of my favorite quilt shops called Fabric Chicks.  It is located in Coupeville on Whidbey Island, Washington.  I love to visit the shop but there is also a web sight.  I will have to pick up the rest of the fat quarters next month when I visit.

As I was leaving Fabric Chicks I saw this piece of fabric in the sale bin. I had to go back to buy this one yard bundle.  Hm mm, what shall I do with this, I'm sure I will come up with something.

  1. What beautiful little verse and I love the cream colored satin material...I think you must have a lot of patience and a steady hand to do such fine stitching work.

That last bundle of material from the sales bin with the bird on it is just so pretty...I think a decorative throw pillow with a pretty ruffled blue border would look pretty with that....just a suggestion ;-)

    Have a great day :-)

  2. I love that little poem -- will definitely save it to use for a card or something later on. I love material, even though I don't sew very well. Have bought many fat quarters from Jo-Ann's when they have a sale. That last little bit you bought in the sale bin is sweet. Hope you are having a great day. Tammy

  3. I really love this! I can't wait to see more!

  4. This is a beautiful sampler. I love the colors you've chosen.. Can't wait to see it as it unfolds... Thanks for visiting Oatmeal and Whimsy!

  5. lovely is just the best and so nice to include in quilting!!

  6. What a lovely friendship poem. Beautiful embroidery too. I really like the blue bird fabric bundle. Hmmm, enough for a little pillow with some lacy trim perhaps. Hugs!

  7. Australians have all the best magazines! Thanks for showing where we can get them. I have found them hard to come by.

  8. Hi Sherry,
I have been to Coupeville, we have stayed there several times. When we lived in BC, Canada we found it to be much less expensive to vacation there, so we did and we love Whidbey Island very much. Such a peaceful, not-touristy Island.
I love your stitching, it is wonderful and the fat quarter you have picked to go with it is going to look fabulous when made up!!! I have quilted a little, but it isn't my favourite thing to do. I admire anyone who does it and enjoys it.
    Hugs, Cindy

  9. What a beautiful thought and quilt center! The colors are lovely even if you did have trouble photographing them. The yard remnent you bought is pretty too I love fabrics like that.

  10. Sherry this is such a beautiful sampler, I love the colors you've chosen
Cloudy a lot here too lately!
Blessings and have a great week

  11. A sweet sentiment on that sampler! I also used to quilt in a former life many years ago when I was home raising kids. I love the art!
